Washer Belt Problem Troubleshooting

One of the most important parts of a washer is the washer belt. It is the part that actually allows that spinning of the tub in the machine.

It is tightened to allow faster rotation. The rotation of the tub on the other hand helps take out the dirt in the clothes.

The washer belt plays an important role in the washing process of the machine. And as with any other part of the washer, frequent use causes wear and tear of the belt. So you need to change it every after some time, usually once a year.

There are things that would signal you that something is wrong with the belt. One is when there is a significant change in the speed of the tub’s rotation. If it is starting to slow down, this means the belt could be loose.

If you hear some squealing from your washer, then it could mean that there is some tearing of the drive on your washer.

One of the most common problems with the washer belt is its splitting in two. Of course, this is due to frequent usage of the machine. And the only way to fix this is to replace the belt.

Don’t just try to mend it as the belt may just tear apart again after a short while. The best thing to do is to replace the belt to ensure that you will be able to use the washer properly.

The same goes for loosening of the belt. The belt is connected to the motor. The motor tends to heat up when it is running. The belt on the other hand, is made of a rubbery material. And when this material comes in contact with heat, it melts, hence the loosening. And when this happens, you will also need to replace the belt.
